Electrical Contractors Kulbir Sawhney and Gurasees Sawhney Booked Under Multiple FIRs for Fraud and Cheating in Crores

Sawhneys - the contractors

Mohali: Himanshu Kapoor, a resident of Kharrar, has brought to light that Arvindera Electricals, an electrical contracting firm based in Chandigarh has multiple FIR’s of fraud lodged against them. Owned by the father-son duo, Kulbir Sawhney and Gurasees Sawhney, the firm has a track record of very dubious and shady business practices, including cheating and committing fraud with vendors by not paying for materials ordered by them, and then go absconding, alleged Kapoor.

In August 2020, the Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (UHBVN) had filed an FIR against Arvindera Electricals for an alleged fraud of Rs. 6 crores. Recently, another FIR was lodged against them, for a fraud amounting to Rs 5.25 crore at SAS Nagar (Mohali) Phase 1, and the bail application filed by Kulbir Sawhney and Gurasees Sawhney was rejected by the District Court. Both the father and son continue to be in hiding from the law.

Arvindera Electricals had also procured electrical materials from Hartek Power Pvt Ltd, a renowned player in the power industry located in the Industrial Area, Phase 8B. These materials were intended for supply to various GMADA sites.

Himanshu Kapoor, who lodged the complaint, alleges that Arvindera Electricals not only failed to make payments to Hartek Power but also absconded after receiving the materials. The matter was promptly reported to the SSP Mohali on June 15 2023. Subsequent investigations led to the registration of a case under sections 420, 406, and 120-B against the accused, with the subsequent addition of Sections 465, 467, 478 and 471 IPC. The strong evidence against the father-son duo of Kulbir Singh Sawhney and Gurasees Sawhney, resulted in the rejection of their bail plea by the district court.
