City Architects Meet to Discuss Professional Issues

Chandigarh: The Chandigarh Chapter of Indian Institute of Architects (IIA) in association with the Council of Architecture (CoA) organized a conference of architects at the Govt Museum Auditorium on Monday to discuss various issues the profession has been facing.

The main issues deliberated at the meet were: bringing out a white paper on status of profession of architecture in the country listing all issues, roadblocks and way ahead; to promote interface between CoA and architects by decentralizing the activities and to create a think tank comprising of eminent architects in education and profession to guide CoA in its day to day operations etc.

Ar Manmohan Khanna, Chairman, Chandigarh Chapter, IIA, said, “The meeting was successful as a lot of problems of the profession were discussed in detail and we are sure that the deliberations will help us in chalking out a roadmap for the further activities.”

Prominent professionals who attended the conference included Ar Manmohan Khanna, Chairman, Chandigarh Chapter, IIA; Ar Habib Khan, President, COA; Ar Divya Kush, President, IIA; Ar Sapna Prabhakar, Vice President, COA; Ar Kapil Setia and Ar N K Negi, both executive committee members, COA. It was also attended by a large number of Heads of Colleges of Architecture (Punjab, Haryana, Himachal and Chandigarh Region), Teachers and Architects in Education.

Textile body HEWA thanks PM Modi for back to back decisions to promote Indian Exports

New Delhi : The Home Textile Exporters' Welfare Association (HEWA) whole heartily thanked the Modi Government for giving patient hearing to various woes of Indian Textile exporters that were brought to the cognizance of various ministries and govt departments by HEWA. The Union Minister for Textile & Commerce, Piyush Goel and Union Minister for Information & Broadcasting, Anurag Thakur declared during a press briefing recently that Government of India has approved disbursal of a hefty amount of Rs 56,000 crore arrear to the exporters under various schemes such as MEIS, RoSL, RoSCTL and RoDTEP. The declaration is a very big relief for the entire Export Industry, which includes MEIS worth Rs 33,000 crore, RoSCTL and RoSL worth Rs 5,500 crore and few other schemes aggregating Rs 5,000 crore.
