26 अगस्त को नेशनल डॉग डे मनाया जाता है। गत सप्ताह  कपिल शर्मा के कॉमेडी शो में स्ट्रीट डॉग्स पर दया दिखाने का जिक्र प्रमुखता से किया गया था। शो के मेहमान, भोजपुरी सिनेमा के सुपर स्टार व सांसद रवि किशन ने भी कहा कि वह जानवरों पर अत्याचार के खिलाफ कड़े प्रावधानों के लिए संसद में बिल प्रस्तुत करेंगे। इस बीच, खतरों के खिलाड़ी टीवी शो की शूटिंग में व्यस्त अभिनेता करन पटेल का एक वीडियो सोशल मीडिया में वायरल हो गया, जिसमें वह वोर्ली मुंबई में अत्याचार के शिकार हुए लकी नामक एक डॉग की हत्या में शामिल लोगों को धमकाते हुए कह रहे हैं कि विदेश से लौटकर वह आरोपियों की ढंग से खबर लेंगे। बॉलीवुड अभिनेत्री अनुष्का शर्मा पहले ही सोशल मीडिया पर जस्टिस फॉर एनीमल्स हैशटैग के साथ एक अभियान छेड़ चुकी हैं। उनकी मांग है कि जानवरों पर अत्याचार के खिलाफ 1960 में बने कानूनों में संशोधन कर उन्हें अधिक सख्त बनाया जाये। बॉलीवुड के कुछ अन्य बड़े एक्टर्स भी कानून में सख्ती के हिमायती हैं, जिनमें सोनम कपूर, जैकलीन फर्नांडीज, इरफान खान और जॉन अब्राहम आदि के नाम उल्लेखनीय हैं। जेल की सजा बढ़ाय
