‘Lap of Luxury’ sees expert architects, interior designers deliberate upon multiple aspects of construction industry

  


Chandigarh: 'Lap of Luxury’ a national level conference addressed by top architects and interior designers of India was organised by Zion Exhibitions in association with Institute of Indian Interior Designers(IIID) Delhi Regional Chapter as Knowledge partner and IIID- Chandigarh Chapter (Institute of Indian Interior Designers) and IIA- Chandigarh Chapter (Indian Institute of Architects) as Supporting Associations at Hotel Hyatt Regency here. A host of luminaries  shared their thoughts and insights on different aspects of the construction industry related to design, architecture, building and construction related products.

Adarsh Gill, Director, Zion Exhibitions while addressing a press conference on the sidelines of 'Lap of Luxury ' said that the latest trends in design and technology in the field of construction, infrastructure, architecture and design have opened a plethora of opportunities and challenges as well and “we need to work in sync with that.”   

Gurtej Singh Gill another Director at Zion Exhibitions said, “Our upcoming event, D-arc Build ’2022 to be held  from 22- 25 September, 2022 at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi will be an ideal B2B platform for international and national organizations from various sectors of mutual interest gathered under one roof to showcase their potential by providing detailed demonstrations of latest products and services and further discuss and finalize business deals.”

'Five Decades of India’s Built Environment', written by architect Dikshu Kukreja, a book which brilliantly chronicles India’s resilient journey in pursuits of infra empowerment, was also launched during the conference. Ar. Kapil Setia, Chief Architect, Department of Urban Planning, Chandigarh Administration, also shared his views at the conference.

“Five Decades of India’s Built Environment touches upon almost every aspect of our infrastructure journey as a nation and what we have achieved in the past 50 years. It also gives the roadmap for the way forward . I firmly believe that we should always be keen to learn from the past experience to build better in the future,” said Architect Dikshu Kukreja, Principal Architect, CP Kukreja Architects and author of the book.

Ar. Jabeen Zacharias, National President, IIID, said, “Architecture is all about innovation. Innovation comes from ideas. So ideation is very important for which we need more and more ‘Lap of Luxury’ type sessions to decode and understand the latest trends in the construction industry, which is so dynamic,” she said.

Earlier, Hemant Sud, Chairperson, IIID-Delhi Regional Chapter, while delivering his moderator address, said that architecture is the most important part of the infrastructure sector. “The design quotient plays a pivotal role in all infra projects. From building a residential-commercial complex, bridges, flyovers, high rises to an independent dwelling unit or showroom, design matters a lot. And design is all about ensuring the wholesome appeal of the construction,” said Sud.

Lap of Luxury was executed in affiliation with some prominent and well recognized brands, namely, Rak Ceramics, Deceuninck India, Stylam Industries, Orient Bell Ltd, Lamiwood Floorings, Luxayor and Mahayco with special brand presentations by the top management of these leading brands and showcase of their latest, state-of-the-art product range.

The other experts who also shared their thoughts on the occasion included Ar. Sapna, Vice President, Council of Architecture; Ar. Bandna Singh, Founding Partner, Positive Axis; Ar. Aman Agarwal, Principal Architect, Charged Voids; Ar. Shiv Dada, Principal Architect, 23 DC Architects; and Ar. Thakur Udayveer Singh.
