‘India ka Painter’ Sahil Kapil shines in the WorldSkills Competitions



ChandigarhSahil Kapil, a student of MFA from Government College of Art Chandigarh, is a trainer of Team India in the skill of Painting and Decorating for WorldSkills India. He is the first Indian student who represented India in WorldSkills ( Skill Olympic) in “Painting and Decorating” category.
He represented India three times in WorldSkills contest, first in Worldskills Asia (2018) held in Abu Dhabi, followed by Global Skill Challenge (2019) held in Melbourne, Australia. Then he took part in Skill Olympics Worldskills (2019) held in Kazan, Russia.
Sahil got a Silver medal in India Skills (2018) and was honoured with the Satish Gujral Award in Annual Art Exhibition (2019) held at the College of Art, Chandigarh.
Sahil, who hails from Bilaspur (HP), says, “My journey started from a zonal level competition in Chandigarh, where I got third position. After that I participated in the State level competition, where I got a Silver medal, followed by regional level competition, where I got a Brozne. After that NSDC provided me expert training along with other competitors in Kolkata, so that we can improve our skills to participate in National level contests. I participated at National level and got a Silver medal. After few weeks, I got a mail from NSDC, informing that  I was selected to represent my skill in WorldSkills Asia (2018) in Abu Dhabi as a guest. It was a big Moment for my family and teachers.”
He further added, “My expert Hakim Sir organized a training camp in Kolkata where I improved my skills. India participated as a guest country. It was full of learning for all competitors and I started practicing at home too. In 2019, I got another good news that I was selected to represent India as a competitor in Global Skills Challenge (2019) at Melbourne, Australia. My parents, teachers and friends all were happy with the achievement. Again I got trained in Kolkata to prepare myself. Then I started my daily practice.”

Recently Sahil got selected to represent India as a partcipant for Skill Olympics Worldskills 2019 in Kazan, Russia. Sahil belongs to a middle class family, including his father, mother and elder brother. His father works at a club, mother works at a school and brother is in the Indian Navy.
Now Sahil is training another students for the WorldSkills ( Skill Olympic) platforms in the trade of painting and decorating. Few of the links related to his achievements:

Textile body HEWA thanks PM Modi for back to back decisions to promote Indian Exports

New Delhi : The Home Textile Exporters' Welfare Association (HEWA) whole heartily thanked the Modi Government for giving patient hearing to various woes of Indian Textile exporters that were brought to the cognizance of various ministries and govt departments by HEWA. The Union Minister for Textile & Commerce, Piyush Goel and Union Minister for Information & Broadcasting, Anurag Thakur declared during a press briefing recently that Government of India has approved disbursal of a hefty amount of Rs 56,000 crore arrear to the exporters under various schemes such as MEIS, RoSL, RoSCTL and RoDTEP. The declaration is a very big relief for the entire Export Industry, which includes MEIS worth Rs 33,000 crore, RoSCTL and RoSL worth Rs 5,500 crore and few other schemes aggregating Rs 5,000 crore.
