Crisis Communication Must be Quick & Precise: Dr Reema Aswani, NASSCOM Research


Clear, simple and frequent communication is required during a crisis like COVID19, which has turned the world upside down. The twitter chat on ‘Crisis Communication during Covid19’ emphasized the need for honest, precise, timely and relevant information with empathy during any crisis. The chat was hosted by Bloggers Alliance in association with NASSCOM Community.
 
Dr Reema Aswani, AI and Analytics Research Lead at NASSCOM Research said, “In order to effectively communicate, during COVID19, when almost everyone is working from home, organisations are increasingly resorting to two-way communication and collaboration tools like @zoom_us @MicrosoftTeams @Webex @SlackHQ @trello and others. Amidst COVID19, webinars, webcasts and virtual events are also great ways to engage and interact with a large audience. There are several tools like @gotowebinar @Webex events and others that can be leveraged for conducting events.”

Dr Amit Nagpal, Personal Branding Coach and Author ‘Heroes Amongst Us’ said, “You can not celebrate with suffering all around. While talking only positive is insensitive, talking only negative is sensationalism. Hence, you should tell many sides of the story. When people are depressed, you can  share inspiring stories of survivors, like we are running a campaign #HeroesOfCorona.”

Kriti Makhija, CFO, GenesisBCW, New Delhi, emphasized that it is critical to communicate effectively with the internal staff, as well as with clients and business partners. Honest, Precise, timely and relevant information with empathy is critical during any crisis.
